Endless Forms Most Beautiful - 20 Nov 2015 - Amsterdam - Heineken Hall

Almost 10 years after kicking off Tarja Turunen, Nightwish are back!!! HELL YEAH!!!

Mr Holopainen has been playing around and experimenting long enough releasing albums like Dark Passion Play, Imaginaerum and of course the magnificent (and my personal TOP album of 2014) Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge, but it was about damn time to go back to Nightwish!

Vocal powerhouse Floor Jansen, is the best replacement for Tarja, adding her own singing style to the band's sound AND at the same time being able to continue the legacy of her predecessor.

I must admit that I was guarded at first, not knowing if this gig would be as good as their modest but awesome performance of October 1, 2005 in the Lycabettus Amfitheatre in Athens. Well, I'll say this: They don't disappoint!! In this reboot concert, Nightwish timetraveled from their dark past of Oceanborn all the way to Endless Forms Most Beautiful, by use of a pyrotechnic force similar to that of Rammstein. In their eagerness to show off their new front-woman, they sadistically played Stargazers, Sleeping Sun and Ghost Love Score back to back proving that Floor can pull it all off. (But please don't do this again. We could all see that she was pushing herself to the limits.)

All in all it was a great performance by a band that keeps upping their game and redefine symphonic metal with every album they release. Next time I see them live will hopefully be with a full orchestra behind them. Till then rock on!! \m/ \m/

As for the other two bands playing: Amorphis and Arch Enemy, I will be short and to the point.
Amorphis: very good music, uninteresting vocals
Arch Enemy: amazing energy, surprisingly good songs, too bad they played before Nightwish

1st bunch: Nightwish
2nd bunch: Arch Enemy
3rd bunch: Amorphis
